2nd Grade Chumash

Dear Parents,

We had a very interesting week in Chumash in second grade!  We received a sefer Tikun from Hadar, one of our Bnot Sherut.  We opened up BPY's sefer Torah and and saw that in a real Torah there are no vowels or ta'amim!  We asked ourselves: How do you prepare to read from the Torah?  We found the answer in the sefer Tikun.  We saw that each page is divided in two.  One side is a copy of exactly what the Torah looks like and the other looks like a copy of a regular Chumash.  We even got to read our pisukim from the Torah, just like grown-ups!  It was a lot of fun.

On that note, I would like to remind you to continue to memorize the pisukim with the ta'amim and to review them nightly before bedtime.

In parshat Noach we began perek 7.  We have already read about Hashem telling Noach that he is a tzaddik.  We asked, why does Hashem come back and tell Noach that he is a tzaddik again?  We already learned it in the beginning of the parsha.  This opened up an interesting discussion about duality in the Torah, and how there is a reason behind every repetition in the Torah.

On Friday we learned parshat hashavua,  Lech Lecha, and had the opportunity to be visited by Dani, a friend of Mulik, who told us a very special story about the importance of Eretz Israel.

Looking forward to the Mesibat HaChumash!
Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom!
Rav Yohanan
